What an amazing turnout out of nearly 200 workers at the STEP-UAW Bargaining Townhall on Tuesday! During that meeting, STEP authorization card signers in attendance voted to adopt a structure for nominating and electing bargaining team members with over 95% voting in favor of the presented proposals. In anticipation of reaching a union recognition agreement with UC soon, we need to take a few key actions:

Elect a strong bargaining team composed of STEPs who know and understand the needs of STEPs and can communicate effectively and quickly with their fellow workers.

Continue forming our Contract Action Team (CAT) so the bargaining team can be connected to the power that we have together as STEPs [signup link]
Per the structure ratified on Tuesday, self-nominations for seven bargaining team members, elected at-large by all STEPs, will open on Monday (7/27) and run through Thursday (7/30). Voting will immediately follow during the week of August 3rd, when all LBL STEPs will receive personalized electronic ballots. Those considering self-nomination should be prepared to spend the time necessary to talk to as many STEPs across as many divisions as possible, in addition to researching and crafting proposals based on the feedback they receive in these conversations.
